BSES's heart is rooted in true exploration. As a youth development charity, they believe in taking young people to places they are unlikely to ever have the chance to explore and teaching them about some of the most remote and fragile living environments that exist today. (see www.bses.org.uk)
"BSES gives to those young people with a dream and lots of drive, the chance to explore some of the world's most remote regions. With that exploration, I have found, so often comes a sense of pride and achievement - and that is the real magic of BSES. It builds the champions and explorer of the future." - Bear Grylls.

The Prince's Trust helps 14-30 year olds develop confidence, learn new skills, get into work and start businesses. Their message, Yes You Can, encourages young people to believe in themselves whatever obstacles they face.
Bear was approached in 2002 and asked whether he would become an Ambassador for the Prince's Trust. He leapt at the chance to support such an outreaching charity as this, that seeks to give opportunity and training to those in Britain who are young and under privileged. Bear presented the awards with HRH The Prince of Wales at the Prince's Trusts 25th Anniversary.
The Trust was also the beneficiary of Bear's 2003 expedition (www.arctic2003.co.uk). You can also read about this adventure in his book 'Facing the Frozen Ocean' by clicking here.

These charities are very close to Bear's Heart, and they provide much needed support to British troops who have risked their lives for our liberties.
